Meaning of a Kingsman
What it means to be “Kingsman” as explained through the symbolism of our crown: As we know, a “Kingsman” is a member of Sons of Kings Lodge #123, but it also has a deeper, more personal meaning. The crown has two colors (yellow and blue), three points, the numbers 123 and the compass & square with the “G”. As the sun in the sky is yellow and it provides light and nourishment, so should the Master Mason of our lodge provide this in turn to his family and the lodge. The blue is a reminder that we are to be honest with our brothers, faithful and accountable in our duties and also sincere in our actions. The three points of the crown are to be a reminder that we have duties to God, our neighbors and ourselves. We are organized and set priorities. We do what is first, first; what is second, second; and what is third, third. That is the “123”. Also, from a historical perspective, we are the 123rd lodge chartered by the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of New York. When our lodge joined the Prince Hall family, we came as 1 lodge with 23 members. The compass and square is the tie that unites as Brothers. The G is in the center as the GAOTU should be the central point of our lives.
“Heavy is the head that wears the crown, but light is the soul of the one that wear it properly.”
